Sen. Duckworth: What happened in the capitol “is shameful”

SPRINGFIELD – One of the state’s top Democrats, U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), took the opportunity in the hours after the Capitol breach Wednesday to, again, bash President Trump.

“It is shameful,” Duckworth said, “that the President of the United States, after inciting violence, would only spend one minute – one minute – after successfully inciting that violence to say that (the crowd) should give up or go home. But, even in that one minute, he continued to spread lies and repeat false claims.

“But this is Donald Trump. He has never cared about anything other than himself.”

Duckworth was in a tunnel on her way to the Senate floor when stopped and turned around by Capitol police.

Another Illinois leader, Gov. JB Pritzker, is calling for Congress to kick the President out of office immediately.
