BLOOMINGTON – The Salvation Army’s annual Make A Difference campaign is coming to an end and the organization is making a final push to reach its $500,000 goal.
As of Monday, the Salvation Army of Bloomington has received $106,556 in the iconic red kettles and $214,783 in other donations.
“We certainly have had less bell ringers, less people out and about, just kind of the sign in the times,” Salvation Army of Bloomington executive director Angie Bubon told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “We have seen our kettles struggle a little bit, but we have seen a big increase in giving online.”
Money raised during the campaign helps the Salvation Army fund local programs including the food pantry, Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter, the Comprehensive Emergency Assistance Program, and youth programs.
The Make A Difference campaign runs through Christmas Eve. To donate you can visit sabloomington.org.
Upcoming Events at the Kettle:
- The Bloomington Fire Department will be ringing at ALL Bloomington Kettle Locations from 11 AM – 1PM every Friday until Christmas.
- Retired WJBC morning show host Scott Laughlin will be doing his annual Cubs vs. Cardinals kettle challenge on Wednesday, Dec. 23rd at Hy-vee from 3-5 PM.
