MCHD reports 50th COVID-related death; 23 residents currently hospitalized

BLOOMINGTON – A woman in her 30s with underlying health conditions had died from coronavirus complications, according to the McLean County Health Department.

There have now been 50 COVID-related deaths in the county. Local health officials Tuesday reported 136 new cases as there are 23 McLean County residents currently hospitalized and 1,355 are in home isolation.

“It is important to remember that this number does not represent all persons currently hospitalized for COVID-19 or for other treatment and care,” said MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight. “Our local hospitals provide care for individuals from outside our county.”

McKnight said there are over 50 COVID patients in McLean County hospitals. Local hospital are reporting 91% of ICU beds in use and 83% of total beds in use.

The county’s rolling positivity rate inched down to 8.1%. 191 additional people were released from isolation, now 6,381 have recovered.
