SPRINGFIELD – The USDA has an update to the 2020 yield forecast.
Crop statistician Mark Schleusener of the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service says this has the makings of a pretty good year in the fields.
“I think we can look at the weather from approximately Aug. 1 to approximately Oct 1 as being poor,” said Schleusener, “so there was some significant downward pressure on yields, yet they are still good.”
The Illinois yields are projected now to be 195 bushels of corn and 58 bushels of soybeans per acre.
