BLOOMINGTON – A day after Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner announced he won’t seek a third term, a candidate for the city council has changed course and will now run for mayor.
Bloomington entrepreneur Mike Straza released a video Thursday on Facebook and said he is suspending his campaign for the Ward 5 council seat.
According to an official media release, Straza is a Bloomington resident of 37 years. He graduated from Illinois State University and has held various positions including business consultant, mentor, and entrepreneur. Straza currently serves on Bloomington’s Zoning Board of Appeals, which is an appointed position.
The office of the mayor and odd numbered council seats are up for election on April 6.
