BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department Wednesday announced 62 new cases of coronavirus as 51 additional people have recovered.

There are 15 people currently hospitalized, none in intensive care, and 264 are isolating at home. The county’s rolling seven-day positivity rate inched up to 3.4%, according to MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight.

“We continue to see community spread of the virus, and the positivity rate in our Region is rising near the 8% threshold,” said McKnight. “It is up to all of us to take personal responsibility and exercise extra precautions to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in our community to keep children in in-person learning, to keep our businesses open, and to keep our families, friends, and neighbors safe.”

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Region 2, which includes McLean County, has a rolling positivity rate of 6.9%.

Meanwhile, MCHD and Chestnut Health Systems mobile COVID site will be in LeRoy from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday. Drive-through and walk-up testing will be available at 201 North Chestnut.
