ISU Athletic Director announces retirement

Illinois State University Athletic Director Larry Lyons has announced his retirement.

The announcement came in a post on the University’s website.

Lyons has been with the University for thirty-three tears, serving as Athletic Director since 2013.

In a letter to University officials, Lyons says that he met with University President Larry Dietz after the spring semester, telling him of his plans to retire on December 31st.

During his tenure, Lyons oversaw the completion of the $26 million renovation of Hancock Stadium. The renovations gave a new front door to the ISU campus and Bloomington-Normal community.

He lead upgrades to Redbird Arena, Duffy Bass Field, and Hancock Stadium.

No word on who will replace him.
