BLOOMINGTON – Making a difference one child at a time. That is the mission of the Guardians of the Children who gathered in Bloomington on Sunday.
The Guardians of the Children is an international children’s advocacy motorcycle group whose mission is to recognize and react to child abuse and to educate people to do the same.
According to the National Child Abuse Hotline, a report of child abuse is made every ten seconds in the U.S.
Tragically, the group said five children die every day as a result of abuse or neglect.
The Central Illinois Chapter said awareness is more important now than ever before.
“The abuse numbers have been growing during the pandemic because everything gets canceled or closed and the kids can’t go anywhere. It’s happening every day. We need to make people aware that it’s happening and look for the signs.” said Ed Moore, a member of the Central Illinois Chapter
The group displayed pictures of children that have been murdered or are missing in Illinois since the beginning of the year in hopes of raising awareness.
They want every child to know that they are there for courage, support, and protection.
