SPRINGFIELD – A national cyber-security exercise this month has a distinct Illinois flavor.
“Our nation, states, communities, corporations, and institutions are under attack each and every day,” said Brig. Gen. Richard Neely, the commander of the Illinois National Guard. “But, rather than bombs and bullets, our adversaries are using binary ones and zeroes.
“And, just as it has been for more than 380 years, the National Guard is playing a key role in our defense.”
Neely, leading the two-week Cyber Shield exercise, says a few dozen Illinoisans are taking part, some of them in key roles.
