McLean County adds 32 new cases of COVID-19

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department on Friday announced 32 new cases of COVID-19, but 14 additional residents have recovered from the virus.

The 32 new cases are the most reported in a single-day since the start of the pandemic. Of the 722 confirmed cases, there are 112 active. Four people are currently hospitalized, one person in the ICU, and 108 are isolating at home.

“We do actually have some individuals who are hospitalized in their 20s, 30s, and 40s,” said MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight. “We are definitely seeing COVID-19 in McLean County hitting our younger generations. We’ve also had several cases of COVID-19 in those under one-year-old. This is a virus that doesn’t discriminate in terms of age.”

595 McLean County residents have recovered from the virus and there have been 15-COVID related deaths. The county’s rolling seven-day positivity rate is 1.8%.

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,264 new cases, the largest daily spike since May, and 25 additional deaths. The statewide rolling seven-day positivity rate remained 4.1%.
