20 new COVID cases in McLean County

BLOOMINGTON – McLean County added 20 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the county total to 690.

The number of active cases in the county went up to 94, according to the McLean County Health Department. There are three people currently hospitalized and 91 are isolating at home. 581 people have recovered from the virus and there have been 15-COVID related deaths.

The county’s rolling seven-day positivity rate went up slightly to 1.9%.

“COVID-19 spreads mainly through close contact with an infected person,” said MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight. “An individual can spread the virus even when they do not have symptoms or appear sick.  To lower your risk of infection, avoid closed spaces with poor ventilation, crowded spaces with many people nearby, and close-contact settings.”

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Public announced the state’s coronavirus total hit 200,427. IDPH reported 1,834 new cases and 24 additional deaths. The statewide rolling seven-day positivity rate is now 4.0%.
