While some people are more likely than others to become severely ill, everyone is at risk for getting COVID-19 if they are exposed to the virus,” said MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight. “In McLean County nearly half of the confirmed cases have been under the age of 30. The 40-49 age range has seen the second highest rate of positive cases after individuals in their 20s.”
McKnight is encouraging people to practice personal prevention measures. Stay home if you are sick; wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place; avoid close contact with people who are sick; cover coughs and sneezes; clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,319 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death. The statewide rolling seven-day positivity rate is 4.1%.
