SPRINGFIELD – Ameren Illinois is not shutting people off for non-payment these days.
When they resume, they’ll let you know first by mail and give you a chance to work something out. Mary Hager, the utility’s senior vice president of customer experience, says the real Ameren employees will neither call nor knock on your door, demanding immediate payment.
Hager says crises such as the coronavirus seem to bring out such scammers.
