SPRINGFIELD – Gov. JB Pritzker hit the road Wednesday to talk about connecting all of Illinois to broadband. He announced $50 million in grants in Geneseo and added an example of how the state is improving its broadband game.
“The Illinois State Board of Education is using hundreds of millions of dollars in federal COVID (-19) relief money to close the digital learning divide,” said Pritzker. “My administration also set up a WiFi hotspot map to connect Illinoisans needing Internet access to hundreds of drive-up internet access locations during the stay-at-home order.”
The governor says the $50 million bring $65 million in non-state matching funds.
