TOWANDA – The 52nd annual Towanda 4th of July celebration has been canceled due to the current pandemic.
The Towanda 4th of July committee met on Tuesday and made the decision, according to a news release. The cancellation includes the fireworks, flea market, dance, spaghetti dinner, and all other July 4th celebrations in Towanda.
“This decision was made with consideration for the safety of our own community, visitors from near and far, flea market and food vendors, parade entrants, our planning committee, and many others,” said Virginia Lowery, parade chairman. “This was not an easy decision and was done with much thought.”
The committee says even though the event is canceled, it will continue to uphold the patriotic spirit via social media.
