BLOOMINGTON – The Executive Committee of the Bloomington-Normal Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has released a statement after the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officer Derek Chauvin in Minnesota.
President of the Bloomington-Normal NAACP Linda Foster said she is angry, disgusted, and hurt by the occurrences related to Mr. Floyd’s horrific death.
“This must cease and desist. We are calling on every citizen of our community to stand up for justice, as all lives really do matter,” Foster added. “I am angry, disgusted and hurt by the occurrences related to Mr. Floyd’s horrific death. Even as the world
contends with the COVID-19 pandemic, African Americans are also contended with another pandemic-racism! This must cease and desist. We are calling on every citizen of our community to stand up for justice, all lives really do matter!”
Protests in Minneapolis have entered their second day, after the death of George Floyd on Monday.
