NORMAL – Pools in Normal will be closed this summer and large events have been canceled due to COVID-19.
Both Fairview Family Aquatic Center and Anderson Aquatic Center will be closed for the duration of the summer, according to a news release Friday. Season pool passholders will receive communication from the town outlining their options. All swimming related programs will be canceled as well.
The town’s annual 4th of July celebration and sky concert fireworks display have been canceled, although parks will remain open.
Concerts that were scheduled for the Uptown Circle and Connie Link Amphitheatre will be canceled through July. Uptown Normal will not host any festivals in June or July, including Make Music Normal and the Sugar Creek Arts Festival which is an annual fundraiser for the McLean County Arts Center.
The Children’s Discovery Museum will remain closed for general admission through July, or until large groups are permitted to gather. Limited camp programs will be available, and the museum store remains open with a full inventory of educational toys and games available for curbside pickup.
Limited registration for all summer programs with the Town of Normal will continue, but program sizes and schedules are subject to change according to the state guidelines for reopening.
Updates will be posted on www.normalparks.org and www.childrensdiscoverymuseum.net, as well as social media posts for Parks & Recreation and the Children’s Discovery Museum.
