HUDSON – The McLean County Department of Parks & Recreation has decided to close F.R. Glasener Beach at Comlara Park for the summer due to public health concerns with COVID-19.
“Due to the uncertainty, and more importantly, the health risk factors, it was decided to close our public swimming beach down for the summer of 2020,” said Michael Steffa, director of parks and recreation. “A safe and fun recreational experience is always the Parks Department’s goal for the Park’s visitors. With the current situation with the COVID-19, we could not see a safe, healthy and cost-effective way to open.”
Other facilities that are still affected by the virus restrictions include the campground, picnic shelters, and the boat rental and bait shop at Comlara Park/Evergreen Lake until at least June 1.
Facilities that are open to the public include both boat launches at Evergreen Lake, and the multi-use trails at Comlara Park.
