Central Illinois was too wet for much planting last week, according to the latest USDA crop report.
Corn is 56 percent planted and nine percent emerged. Soybeans are 31 percent planted and two percent emerged.
State statistician Mark Shcleusener, of the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, says the progress is much better than in 2019’s wet start in the fields.
