NORMAL – Classes online, virtual commencement ceremonies and most summer activities canceled, just some of the moves made by Illinois State University in response to COVID-19.
ISU President Larry Dietz explained how those decisions are made during the WJBC Stay at Home Response Town Hall.

“We meet with members of the university emergency operations center team, part of that is the police department, student health officials, facility team members, and the list goes on,” said Dietz.
Dietz told WJBC’s Scott Miller he also meets with members of his cabinet and the Board of Trustees.
As for the biggest challenge during this time – online classes.
“They have not been our bread and butter,” Dietz said. “We are an experienced based institution where people get good degrees and jobs, but we also offer a collegiate experience for those individuals and I think that is what a lot of people want when they come here.”
