CLINTON – Coronavirus stimulus checks from the federal government will be sent out in the coming weeks, but that means scammers will be on the prowl to hack your information.
The DeWitt County TRIAD is a joint partnership between the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department, professionals, and citizens who work to keep seniors physically, financially and emotionally safe.
“The IRS will not call you or send you an email for you to reply with your personal information,” TRIAD president Connie Unruh told WJBC’s Scott Miller.

“We’ve also had people calling seniors supposedly from their bank, asking for information or saying the IRS is trying to deposit a check and they need to verify your information. If your bank legitimately calls you, they will leave a call back number, or you can hang up and call their direct number to speak with somebody at the bank,” said Unruh.
Unruh said the best place for accurate information regarding stimulus checks is the IRS website – IRS.gov.
