BLOOMINGTON – People will be able to donate a few different ways electronically this year during the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle campaign.
Donations can be made by using a smartphone with Apple Pay or Google Pay, according to Angie Bubon, development director for the Salvation Army in Bloomington.
“It’s new to us so we are still learning how it will go,” said Bubon. “So now when people say they don’t have or don’t carry cash, this is a new way to combat that change in society with people not carrying cash.”
People can also donate by scanning a QR code if they don’t have Apple or Google pay.
Bubon said the annual campaign is underway at some locations in McLean County, but more kettles will pop up after Thanksgiving.
“We will have about 21 sites with 26 kettles around the area, and we are always looking for volunteers,” she said.
For those looking to donate or volunteer, more information can be found at centralusa.salvationarmy.org or registertoring.com.
