BLOOMINGTON – 2,500 families in McLean County who might not be able to afford a Thanksgiving dinner won’t be missing out on one this year.
The Midwest Food Bank spent the day packing boxes with non-perishables like stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes.
When it gets closer, they’ll get the frozen turkeys too.
“Thanksgiving is a really special occasion – obviously here in our culture in America it revolves around food and coming together and bringing the family and friends together to have that time to celebrate and be thankful together,” said Executive Director Tara Ingham of the Midwest Food Bank. “We’re giving right back to the families in need so that they do have that opportunity to celebrate together.”
The boxes will be distributed over a two-day period.
It’s first-come, first-serve. To find out how to get a box, contact the Midwest Food Bank.
