BLOOMINGTON – A house was heavily damaged after a blaze Wednesday morning in south Bloomington.

Bloomington Township Fire Protection District Chief Tom Willan said crews were called at 6:10 a.m. to 8983 Blooming Grove Road, near Crestwicke Country Club.

Willan said a firefighter was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries after parts of the ceiling fell.  There were no other injuries.

Willan said the house was heavily damaged and could be a complete loss. The homeowner is being assisted by the American Red Cross, according to Willan.

Investigators from the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office were called and are trying to determine what caused the blaze.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
