FARMER CITY – The Blue Ridge Board of Education said it will publicly post the offers made by each side after negotiations failed Tuesday with the union representing teachers and other employees.
The school board said the Blue Ridge Federation of Teachers has requested the public posting.
“The offers will be posted on Oct. 7, and will be distributed to the public at that time,” said the board in a statement.
“The Board is committed to this process, and will continue to work to come to an agreement that is fair to our employees and maintains the financial health of the school district,” the board added.
A news release from the Blue Ridge Federation of Teachers reports the two sides are far from making a deal when it comes to salary and health care.
Federation President Don Anton said in a statement that the earliest strike date is Oct. 21.
The two sides are scheduled to meet again Oct. 9. The district covers Farmer City, Mansfield, and Bellflower.
