BLOOMINGTON – McLean County prosecutors have charged a Bloomington man with a shooting that wounded two people on Tuesday in the Highland Hills apartment complex on the city’s southwest side.
The attorney for Dominique Atwater, 26, said this appears to be a case of self-defense. Atwater faces seven charges in all, including aggravated discharge of a firearm for allegedly shooting a gun in the direction of four people.
Police were called Tuesday afternoon to the 1700 block of Springfield Road. Officers located the two injured people at a local hospital. They suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Associate Judge Sarah Duffy set bond at $200,000, meaning that Atwater has to come up with $20,035 cash to be released from the McLean County Jail.
Bloomington Police are still investigating and are not commenting about Atwater’s arrest.
