BLOOMINGTON – McLean County prosecutors have dismissed murder and mob action charges against the only person accused of the stabbing death of her boyfriend in south Bloomington almost two years ago.

24-year-old Brittney Mikesell’s guilty plea to three aggravated battery charges came on the day she was supposed to stand trial for the December 2017 stabbing death of 21-year-old Cullen Hedrick at the Cardinal Ridge Mobile Home Park.

Mikesell admitted she shot pepper spray at two other people and spit at an EMT.  Hedrick allegedly swung a machete at a man who got up from the ground and fatally stabbed Hedrick in self-defense.

Mikesell was sentenced to 23-years in prison, but with good time credits, she’ll serve about 10-years behind bars.

At other times, they cause us to shake our heads and wonder why. The McLean…
