To the WJBC listeners who have noticed my absence over the past couple of weeks – thank you! I often wonder if anyone is listening. (That’s a joke.)
What’s not a joke – I have kidney cancer. It has spread to my thighbone and a couple of other spots. I had surgery earlier this week. I like to tell people that I have the strength of ten men. No more; two of them ran screaming in pain from the recovery room. It was rough, but I’m feeling better every day. Treatment (Immunotherapy) starts on May 13.
I’m getting great medical care and am lucky to have the support and encouragement of friends and family. I believe that what I have is beatable and have several role models who have gotten a similar diagnosis and beaten the odds.
So wish me luck. Looking forward to being back on the air soon.
