BLOOMINGTON – McLean County prosecutors and Bloomington Police took jurors back in time nearly 4 1/2-years after local financial planner Pam Zimmerman was shot to death in her office on East Washington Street.
Prosecutors called up Bloomington Police Sergeant Tim Power, who was the lead detective and questioned Zimmerman’s former husband, Kirk, who’s on trial for the killing.
Our news partner, WMBD-TV reports the jury saw a video from five hours of questioning. Zimmerman told Power he was at home and didn’t see Pam the night she was murdered.
Power asked, “Would you ever hurt Pam?” Zimmerman chuckled a little and answered,”of course not.”
Power testified BPD searched, but was not able to find the 9 mm firearm that investigators believe was the murder weapon.
Power said officers searched around Pam’s office, got warrants for Kirk’s vehicle and home, but didn’t find the gun.
Earlier, jurors saw a portion of the interview in which Zimmerman said he was tired and wanted to see his kids, instead of providing details for police about what he did the night of the murder.
