BLOOMINGTON – New leaders are coming to the Salvation Army of McLean County.

The Bloomington Corps reported Majors Dan and Laura Leisher are relocating here from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they have lived for 18 years. The Leishers have served with the Salvation Army for more than 27 years, including 21 years as officers.

The Leishers replace Major Gary Felton, who arrived in Bloomington in July 2017 but is moving to the Salvation Midwest Corps in the Chicago area to fill an unexpected vacancy.

Major Felton’s last day is Bloomington will be Sunday, September 23.

The Bloomington Corps also reported Lt. Eddie Williams, who also began here in July 2017, will remain in Bloomington.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
