BLOOMINGTON – A McLean County judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a Bloomington man charged with sexually assaulting a local woman.
The mistrial was declared Thursday when the jury said they could not reach a verdict in the case against Lamar Adkins.
Authorities said the 36-year old alleged victim was sleeping during the assault. She reportedly called police after discovering a video on her phone of a man having sex with her.
Police said Adkins, 31, and the woman knew each other through a mutual friend.
Prosecutors say they intend to retry Adkins, who’s scheduled to appear for an August 31 status hearing.
Adkins remains jailed on $300,000 bail, which means he has to post a $30,035 cash bond to be released.
