2 injured after shots fired near downtown Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington police are investigating an early morning report of gunshots just east of downtown.

Police said they received several reports of shots fired at Monroe and McLean streets after 1 a.m. Monday. Before officers arrived, police received another 911 call of a man who had been shot and found a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound at East and Jefferson streets.

A second 19-year-old man was injured, although police said they don’t know the cause. He told officers the injured men were driving when another vehicle approached and shots were fired.

Police reported finding an abandoned car with the rear window broken out and the engine running at Monroe and McLean streets. Shell casings were nearby.
