Coroner: Bloomington man walking on I-74 struck and killed by a semi

FARMER CITY – A semi-trailer truck struck and killed a Bloomington man early Sunday while he was walking along Interstate 74 near Farmer City.

DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice said he found Jared Kelch,26, in the median of I-74, and he pronounced Kelch dead at the scene at 4:25 a.m.

Rice said Kelch was walking westbound when the semi hit him. Rice says the trucker is cooperating with the investigation. The coroner and Illinois State Police are investigating the circumstances that led to Kelch’s death.
