Murder charges filed against 3 Chicago-area residents in Streator shooting

STREATOR – LaSalle County prosecutors have released the names of three Chicago-area residents charged with murder in connection with Tuesday’s shooting in Streator.

LaSalle County State’s Attorney Karen Donnelly said Ashanti Roberts, 21, and Hashim Waite, 24, both of Chicago; and Tamil Adams, 16, of Dolton are all charged with felony murder. During a news conference Thursday afternoon, prosecutors said the teenager is being charged as an adult.

Donnelly and other officers released few other details about Tuesday’s shooting death of Maria De La Torre, 33, at a residence on Ninth Street in Streator.

The next court appearance is scheduled for June 8.
