BLOOMINGTON – An attorney for the former pastor accused of physically abusing his infant daughter is asking the public to reserve judgment about the case until the facts are known.

Matthew Everly, 25, of Bloomington faces 11 criminal charges for the injuries he allegedly inflicted on his two week only child.

Attorney Scott Kording says his client is innocent, though he would not offer details as to his client’s defense.

“In response to the allegations, we’re simply asking people reserve judgment until all the facts are known,” Kording said. “He’s innocent of these charges.

“Matt Everly is a wonderful and talented young man. These are serious allegations that visit great difficulty upon him and his family.”

Everly posted $25,000 bond on Monday. He is due in court on June 1, though no trial date has been set.

Everly had been a pastor for five years at Eastview Christian Church in Normal.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
