BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police have arrested a teen for possession of a stolen handgun.
The Bloomington Police Department reports officers were called to the 300 block of Riley Drive around 8:35 Monday night after they received reports of multiple gun shots.
A 20-year-old man was parked inside his vehicle with four friends when they heard several gun shots hit the car. Officers arrived on the scene and witnesses reported hearing gun shots and seeing a white SUV driving away. No injuries were reported.
Police located a white SUV near Veterans Parkway and Clearwater Avenue. A 16-year-old boy reportedly fled the scene while holding a handgun. Police recovered a stolen handgun and arrested the teen, who was taken to the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police are investigating both incidents to determine if they are related.
