BLOOMINGTON – Mid Central Community Action is continuing to offer energy bill assistance to those in need.

MCCA offers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, to residents in both McLean and Livingston counties.

Livingston County residents are eligible for the ComEd CARE Residential Special Hardship.

“Our goal at Mid Central Community Action is to help people achieve a level of financial security,” said Matthew Drat from the MCCA. “But also after they achieve that, to sustain that. So let us help you.”

Drat said the organization also offers income support and financial coaches.

“There are several thousand households between McLean and Livingston County that we help annually through LIHEAP. About ten thousand households, whether they be an individual or a family, are helped annually through all the programs at Mid Central Community Action.”

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
