SAYBROOK – The McLean County Sheriff’s Department reports several road signs are missing from the Saybrook area.
A department Facebook post says signs were taken from a railroad crossing near Indian Springs subdivision as well as others at two intersections and a bridge. The department says in one instance, a sign post sunk 42 inches into the ground had been pulled and thrown into a field. Other signs were damaged by shotgun pellets and bullets.
The department points out that stealing road signs is not only illegal, but dangerous to motorists and expensive to taxpayers.
Sheriff’s police ask anyone with information or who sees suspicious activity to call the department at 309-888-5019.
