Heartland’s Minter named finalist in presidential search

NORMAL – There will be at least one internal candidate in Heartland Community College’s search for a new president.

Doug Minter, Heartland’s Vice President of Business Services since 2014 and an employee of the school since its inception in 1991, has been revealed as the second of four finalists for the post.

A community and alumni forum is scheduled for Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Astroth Community Education Center.

Minter started at Heartland in 1991 as faculty, He became the school’s Chief Information Officer and Dean of Information technology Services in 1997.

The first finalist Melinda Tejada from Waubonsee Community College is hosting a forum on campus today. Two other finalists have not yet been named.

Rob Widmer is retiring as Heartland’s president in June. Minter succeeded Widmer in the VP post in 2014, when Widmer was named school president.
