BLOOMINGTON – There’s a new approach to combating the opioid epidemic in the Twin Cities.

The Drug Take Back Initiative is growing in central Illinois. Several companies are teaming up with Walgreens to add safe medication disposal kiosks.

On Monday, a new kiosk was revealed at the Walgreens on Veterans near Vernon in Bloomington.

The kiosks allow you to safely dispose of unwanted and unused prescriptions at no cost.

“Our pharmacists play a big role in letting the patient know, if you are done with your treatment and you have some leftover you now have an easy solution for you to come and dispose of your medication,” says Regional Healthcare Director for Walgreens Marcel Naddaf.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
