BLOOMINGTON – More than 40 students and a handful of faculty members of Central Catholic High School in Bloomington are preparing for the annual March for Life in the nation’s capital.
Central Catholic Spanish teacher Lauren Booth, who has attended the March seven times, explained while they are advocating for a cause, the March is a fun event for those involved.
“It’s a joyful, really fun event,” Booth said. “You wouldn’t think that going to walk in the street would be that fun, but just the energy of all the people around us and knowing that we are, together, there for the same cause and there in joy and love really makes all the difference.”
Booth said the group has a full schedule after they arrive in DC. She explained visiting the Holocaust Museum, grabbing lunch with U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood and touring the National Mall makes up just one day of the trip.
“On Friday we’re going to the Youth Rally and Mass that’s hosted by the Archdiocese of Washington, and there’s thousands of young people there and it’s just a great way to get the kids pumped up for the March, which takes place in the afternoon,” said Booth. “It’s always a good time to walk up Constitution Avenue towards the Supreme Court building.”
Central Catholic’s group will depart this afternoon and return early Saturday morning.
