NORMAL – Normal’s Town Council wants more detailed accounting of the money it gives the Bloomington-Normal Economic Council.
Days after a McLean County Board committee recommended calling for more detailed reports from the EDC, Normal’s town staff will request the same at the council’s regular meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was delayed one day because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
In a staff report, City Manager Mark Peterson recommends the town pay the EDC its $100,000 in annual funding on a monthly basis, provided the EDC produce monthly financial reports.
Peterson is also recommending the town only accept some of the funding the EDC is requesting for BN Advantage, the EDC’s partnership with the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. Petesron told the council that staff is concerned the EDC hasn’t provided enough detail about how the extra funding for the EDC is going to be used.
