Pekin man identified in fatal Friday afternoon crash

BLOOMINGTON – The Peoria County Coroner has identified the body of a man killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

Coroner Jamie Harwood said Jeffrey Hess, 28, of Pekin was pronounced dead at the scene after his red sedan collided with an SUV on Kickapoo Creek Road. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The driver of the SUV, a nameless 24-year-old female, was pregnant at the time of the crash. Harwood’s office received notification the baby was delivered stillborn later that evening.
