BLOOMINGTON – Las Vegas, the site of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, is home to former Bloomington resident Todd Hoback.
The Country Financial employee and his wife, Dana are comforted that everyone they know are apparently fine after a shooting spree on the strip killed 59 people and injured 525.
Hoback told WJBC’s Sam Wood it’s been really confusing because the gunman was apparently not a foreign terrorist, and lived close to Las Vegas.
Hoback has found Vegas to be a tale of two cities. One for tourists and another much quieter place for families.
“The tourist area is its own kind of crazy beast, with all the energy and the 45 million people visiting a year, so it’s obviously heavy traffic down there,” Hoback explained. “The city itself is much different, it’s a lot more low key, and a lot more family atmosphere and feeling, so we really like that a lot.”
Hoback left Monday morning for a business trip to Bloomington. He’s moved by the outpouring of people in Las Vegas who want to help those who are suffering, by waiting in long lines to donate blood or even give rides to the injured who might need medical treatment.
