NORMAL – Connect Transit has removed the interim tag from Isaac Thorne’s title, making him its permanent general manager.
“I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to serve Connect Transit and the Bloomington-Normal community,” Thorne said. “I look forward to working with our great employees on improving the customer experience, as well as building relationships and partnerships in the community.”
Thorne joined the transprotation service 10 years ago as a dipsatcher and became Chief Operating Officer in 2014.
“It became apparent working with Isaac over the few months while he was interim that he was entirely capable of doing the job,” said Connect Transit Board Chair Mike McCurdy. “He will focus on making sure there are ADA-compliant bus stops with shelters across the community, bringing more frequent service to busy routes, and examining fare restructuring,” said McCurdy.
Thorne’s salary will be $125,000. He replaces former manager Andrew Johnson, who resigned in March for another position with the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District.
