PONTIAC – An issue with a local fireworks supplier has led to changes in the Pontiac Fourth of July celebration.
The Pontiac Fourth of July activities at the Pontiac Elks Club have been rescheduled to June 30. General Manager Alex Arbogast explains that Pontiac is one of 120 locations across the state affected by the revocation of their long-time fireworks vendor’s permit.
“We put our minds together to make the best of the situation, so we’re going with a different vendor,” Arbogast said. “It’s the same vendor who does the fireworks for the Chicago White Sox, so I expect it to be an awesome show, just like everyone’s accustomed to. So, we’re really looking forward to it.”
Included in this free event, which is sponsored by Marlon Eilts Country Financial, will be caricature artist Dan Wild, open swimming beginning at noon, a firehouse tour, inflatables and a visit from the Livingston County Humane Society. Food and drinks will be available for purchase and the fireworks begin at dusk.
