BLOOMINGTON – The State Farm Youth Classic is looking for volunteers to help with the four-day golf tournament later this month.

The Youth Classic attracts more than 350 of the world’s top junior golfers to the Twin Cities. Volunteers will be spread across six area golf courses.

Matt Hawkins of the Bloomington-Normal Convention and Visitors Bureau said the tournament needs dozens to make the event run smoothly.

“The State Farm Youth Classic is one of our community’s signature events,” Hawkins said. “Our success over the years would not be possible without all the time and effort put forth by our volunteers. These individuals help us put on some of the best amateur sporting events in the world.”

The State Farm Youth Classic is scheduled for June 25th through 28th. For more information or to register, go to theyouthclassic.com.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
