PONTIAC – The Greater Livingston County Economic Development Council helps the economy grow in many ways, with the expansion of Advanced Technology Recycling in Pontiac serving as one example.

ATR is an electronics recycling company working primarily in the commercial sector. It has nine locations throughout the United States and is headquartered in Pontiac, celebrating its 15th year in business this year. They’ve been working with the GLCEDC to expand the growing company according to ATR president Ken Ehresman.

“We have a full line of benefits we have very competitive pay that goes along with these positions. Our basic entry level position starts out at $12.50 an hour and of course, they go all the way up into higher paid positions as you get more skilled in specific areas,” Ehresman said. “Some of the value recovery positions, it will be common for those folks to be making anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000 dollars a year and, of course, management positions will be even higher than that,” Ehresman said.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
