BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police have arrested a local man for allegedly murdering a woman, whose body was found last weekend in a west side motel room.
Investigators spent many hours Thursday searching a home at 202 Davis Ave. where suspect Kyle Brestan, 32, is believed to have lived.
Brestan is accused of killing Shannon Hastings, 27, of Peoria, who was found dead in a motel room in the 400 block of Brock Drive on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities are not revealing how Hastings died, and police at the Davis Ave. residence refused to say why they sealed off the home with crime scene tape.
A neighbor on Davis was able to identify Brestan in a mug shot. She also told WJBC she had seen Brestan in the neighborhood, and occasionally talked with him.
The McLean County State Attorney’s office is expected to reveal some details about the case when Brestan appears before a judge on Friday.
Police said no other suspects are being sought, but the investigation is ongoing. BPD asks anyone with information to contact detective Todd McClusky at (309) 434-2380. Tips can also be left anonymously by calling McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.
