Lower bond denied for Bloomington woman awaiting sentencing for murder

EUREKA – A Woodford County judge has refused to reduce bond for a Bloomington woman who pleaded guilty to a murder charge this week.

Bond for Sarah Mellor, 31, remains at $1 million. Judge Michael Stroh rejected a request to reduce that amount to $20,000.

Mellor pleaded guilty to second degree murder on Monday, the day jury selection was to begin for her first degree murder trial for the stabbing death of her husband Mark Mellor in October of last year at a campground near Carlock.

Her sentencing is scheduled for July 18. She remains in the Woodford County jail.
